In this edition we will include a concise PvP breakdown on IVs to target and how much to prioritize grinding for XLs during the weekly spotlight hours which occur on Tuesdays between 6pm and 7pm local time
GO Stadium has an excellent IV rank checker to show how your Pokémon is ranked, and you can adjust for any way you obtain the Pokémon. The website is linked in the terms section at the bottom along with some helpful explanations of common Pokémon GO phrases if needed.

UL: Cacturne: 6/15/15 level 50
ML: N/A
XL Priority: Low
Shiny: No
Mega Evolve: Abomasnow, Venusaur
PVP Considerations
None. Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but both Cacnea and Cacturne don’t have any play in competitive PvP. Put this one in the “maybe someday it gets an amazing move, but for now a good rank one is just sitting there and taking up bag space” bin.

— November 9 — Chinchou Spotlight —
__________________________________________________________________________________
Bonus: 2x Candy for Transfer
Chinchou: Electric/Water - 15/15/15 level 50 - CP 1265

GL: Lanturn: 0/13/14 level 28
UL: Lanturn: 15/15/15 level 50
ML: N/A
XL Priority: Low
Shiny: Yes
Mega Evolve: Ampharos, Blastoise, Gyarados, Manectric, Slowbro
PVP Considerations
Lanturn is a strong pick in the Great League. It plays as a hard counter to Pokemon such as Azumarill, Talonflame, and Empoleon, but also lacks any coverage to deal with its Grass type weakness. We have also seen Chinchou be a big player in the Little jungle Cup. This is a perfect chance to find a good IV Great League Lanturn or Little Cup Chinchou. For those who like spicy options, you can hunt Candy XL for a Great League Chinchou or an Ultra League Lanturn. Neither is going to light up the opponent (see what I did there :P) but could make for a fun and unique pick in their respective league.

2nd Charge Move Costs: 25 Turtwig Candy & 10k stardust
Shadow 2nd Move Costs: 30 Turtwig Candy & 12k Stardust
LC: Turtwig: 0/10/14 level 17
GL: Grotle: 0/15/11 level 31.5
GL: Torterra: 0/11/13 level 19.5
UL: Torterra: 0/15/15 level 34
ML: Torterra: 15/15/15 level 50
XL Priority: Low
Shiny: Yes
Mega Evolve: Abomasnow, Venusaur
PVP Considerations
Turtwig’s evolution line has a few picks that could be useful in its respective league. Turtwig in Little Cup, Grotle in Great League, and Torterra in Great, Ultra, or even Master League. All of these play as Razor Leaf users that deal out big damage, which means they are typically preferred as shadow Pokémon. However, you can gather up good IV candidates for non shadow versions during this spotlight hour for any of these you are currently missing in the collection.

— November 23 — Chimchar Spotlight —
__________________________________________________________________________________
Bonus: 2x XP for Catching
Chimchar: Fire - 15/15/15 level 50 - CP 1082
Monferno: Grass - 15/15/15 level 50 - CP 1780
Weaknesses: Ground, Rock, Water
Resistances: Bug, Fairy, Fire, Grass, Ice, Steel
Infernape: Fire/Fighting - 15/15/15 level 50 - CP 3033
Weaknesses: Flying, Ground, Water
Resistances: 4x Bug, Dark, Fire, Grass, Ice, Steel
Evolution Costs: 25 Chimchar Candy > Monferno > 100 Chimchar Candy > Infernape
2nd Charge Move Costs: 25 Chimchar Candy & 10k stardust
LC: Chimchar: 0/13/14 level 21
GL: Monferno: 0/15/14 level 43.5
GL: Infernape: 0/13/15 level 21
UL: Infernape: 1/15/14 level 39.5
ML: N/A
XL Priority: Low
Shiny: Yes
Mega Evolve: Charizard Y, Houndoom
PVP Considerations
All members of Chimchar’s evolution line have yet to make any significant impact on the PvP landscape. Chimchar (Little Cup), Monferno (Great League), and Infernape (Great, Ultra, or Master League) are all usable, but all are likely more of a hindrance than an asset at the current moment. As mentioned for a number of past spotlight hours, this is simply a chance to stock up on good IV candidates and save them for potential future use. Infernape wants Blast Burn, an exclusive move which (likely) won’t be available during the Spotlight Hour, so you will want to hold off on that evolution until a time it can learn the move again.

— November 30 — Piplup Spotlight —
__________________________________________________________________________________
Bonus: 2x Candy for Catching
Piplup: Water - 15/15/15 level 50 - CP 1215
Prinplup: Water - 15/15/15 level 50 - CP 1923
Weaknesses: Electric, Grass
Resistances: Fire, Ice, Steel, Water
Empoleon: Water/Steel - 15/15/15 level 50 - CP 3279
Weaknesses: Electric, Fighting, Ground
Resistances: 4x Ice, 4x Poison, 4x Steel, Bug, Dragon, Fairy, Flying, Normal, Psychic, Rock, Water
Evolution Costs: 25 Piplup Candy > Prinplup > 100 Piplup Candy > Empoleon
2nd Charge Move Costs: 25 Piplup Candy & 10k stardust
LC: Piplup: 0/14/15 level 18.5
GL: Prinplup: 0/15/14 level 38
GL: Empoleon: 0/13/15 level 19.5
UL: Empoleon: 1/15/14 level 34.5
ML: Empoleon: 15/15/15 level 50
XL Priority: Low
Shiny: Yes
Mega Evolve: Blastoise, Gyarados, Slowbro
PVP Considerations
Piplup (Little Cup) and Prinplup (Great League) are both serviceable options in their respective leagues, but nothing special. Their final evolution, Empoleon, is a meta relevant option in PvP and worth your time and effort during Spotlight Hour if you don’t have one yet. Empoleon is solid in Great League and can even be used in the upcoming Master League Premier, but where it truly shines is in Ultra League, where it plays a central role as a core partner to Dragon types. If you don’t have an Empoleon for Ultra League, this is your chance to hunt. There is a caveat: Empoleon wants Hydro Cannon, an exclusive move which (likely) won’t be available during the Spotlight Hour. You will want to hold off on that evolution until a time it can learn the move again. At a minimum you can collect a good candidate now and save it for a future event when the move has returned. You could also use an Elite Charge TM if you need an Empoleon sooner and would rather not wait.
